Designing for organisations that put people and planet first

We work with not-for-profits, advocacy bodies and social enterprises that exist to improve outcomes for communities. These organisations face the same digital challenges as any enterprise — legacy systems, fragmented services, limited internal capability — but the stakes are often more personal. The people they serve may face barriers to access, literacy or trust.

We bring the same rigour, research and technical capability we apply to government and commercial clients. Human-centred design is particularly valuable in this space because it ensures solutions are shaped by the people who need them most.

Yooralla: Turning daily moments into evidence of progress

Our partnership with Yooralla led to the creation of Progress Stories — a platform born from co-design with people living with disability and their carers. What began as an NDIS compliance tool became something far more meaningful: a way for carers to capture small daily moments and share them across the entire care network.

Over 4,000 stories were created in the first month. Carers and clients now use the tool collaboratively, building a holistic view of progress that equips them for success when reviewing NDIS funding.

Building platforms that scale impact, not complexity

The eSmart Digital Licence we built for the Alannah & Madeline Foundation — with Bubbleship developing the learning content and funding from the Australian Federal Government — brings online safety education to early primary classrooms across Australia. Built on Webflow with no logins required, the platform lets teachers download what they need and start teaching, with a custom integration into AMF’s Microsoft Dynamics CRM that captures national participation data without adding to classroom workload.

Whether it’s AI-powered data capture for Clean Up Australia’s million volunteers or consumer journey mapping for the Consumer Policy Research Centre, we design for reach and resilience — solutions that work at national scale without requiring national-scale infrastructure.

Clean Up Australia: turning clean-up days into national litter data

Clean Up Australia’s million volunteers collect litter at 16,000 events a year, an enormous source of insight into what is polluting the environment. At that scale there is no realistic way to count everything by hand, so the picture had always come from a sample of what was collected. We designed and built Clean Up Cam to capture the full picture without adding to the work volunteers already do.

Volunteers photograph litter as they collect it, and image recognition maps each item to Clean Up Australia’s 80-plus waste categories automatically. The result is geolocated litter data from across the whole event, with a personalised summary for volunteers the same day. That data feeds Clean Up Australia’s annual Litter Report, informing public policy and industry practice, and the dataset sharpens with every event. In 2026 the project won a Victorian iAward in the Not-for-Profit & Community category.
